Workshops

The workshop is a time for making and also for coming together. While working with clay, wool or wood, people talk, observe, ask questions, help one another, organize and care for one another. The surroundings are part of this experience: stepping away from everyday activities for a moment, spending time in a shared space and meeting again week after week builds a closeness that goes beyond making a piece.

This shared time also brings together different ways of taking part. Teaching, learning, accompanying, documenting, photographing, designing, organizing knowledge and thinking about how to present a work all respond to the workshop’s evolving needs. From this shared experience emerge new ways of telling, representing and carrying forward what happens: an image, a record, a decision about how to display a work or this very website are part of a process in which different actions and kinds of knowledge come together and help it continue.
